Orange you glad that you are reading this post about Heatwave by Nars?
A few months ago, I came across this gorgeous lipstick shade while reading a germ infested magazine at the doctor's office. It's described as the perfect 'universally flattering shade', a great 'pick me up' for those days that you're feeling blah. And yes, I have a lot of those blah days, but wasn't sure that I was bold enough to try an orange/red lipcolor. So when I was in Sephora last week (after a month long ban) I decided to check it out:

And here is a swatch with my favorite vampy color:
Doesn't this lipstick look a bit orang-ey in the tube? My fears were calmed when I was told by the makeup artist that it's actually more of a coral red shade that's perfect for all ethnicities.
And with that, I was sold:

Needless to say I love this lipcolor. It's got just the right amout of orange in it and doesn't make you feel like you are wearing a pumpkin on your lips. It's great as a statement color (which I wear with minimal eye makeup and a touch of blush) and just a warning that because it is a matte formula it does tend to be on the dry side. To combat this I just mix in a bit of lip balm to give my lips a more hydrated look. Even though the name suggests that it's more of a spring/summer color you can bet that I will be wearing it all year round :)

Hey, that's a coincidence. I've been lusting after a colour nail shade for the last 6 months (and still haven't found the right one), however, the search lead me to coral lip colour. And guess what? I love it, it even looks great as an emergency blusher!
Hmm, thanks for posting about this. I have been on the lookout for a bright red 'statement' lipstick, and I was thinking a red with orangey undertones might work better with my complexion than a blue-toned red. I will go check it out! Hope you have a great weekend!

You read my mind Sharon! I just bought a classic red and bordeaux coloured lipstick for fall. But felt like I needed 1 more colour for the repetoire and this just may be it! I am not a huge fan of bright pink lipsticks because you know it can be a bit sallow on asian skin tone. So I was thinking about orange/coral but still wasn't sure. Now...I know what to try! Thank you :)

Ooooh, I love that color!! I can't wait to start wearing darker colors for fall/winter. Right now I'm still stuck on pink for summer! It's hot here!

I'm scared of really bright lip colors but I am really intrigued by those one. I looks like that Poppy King lipstick that J. Crew came out with that sold out in like five minutes - you look great in it!
That colour looks amazing on you! I'm not really scared of colour but since I've having skin issues (and around my mouth area :( ) I've been shying away from bold colours so as to not draw even MORE attention. Hopefully I can go back to wearing those vampy shades soon!!
