Truth be told I'm not really a faker. What I mean by that, is that is that I'm not a huge fan of fake people, fake boobs or fake butts. But what I do like, is faking good skin. I'm really openminded when trying new products and methods and I recently read about how mixing your foundation and shimmer lotion works wonders at giving your skin that perfect glow. Hmmm... interesting. I'm always up for a challenge so let's give it a try! Ready, set, GLOW!
The tools:
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser $55 CAD and Stila All Over Shimmer approx. $25 CAD Available at Sephora |
The Steps:
1) Moisturize and prime skin if needed (my primer of choice is Laura Mercier Hydrating primer).
2) Apply 3 parts of foundation/tinted moisturizer to 1/4 part of liquid luminizer (Benefit's High Beam would work well too) to the back of the hand like so:
3) Gently mix both like this:
4) Blend into face (you can use a brush or be a cheapie like me and just use your fingers):
My really bad photo attempt at showing you how to blend. Go ahead and laugh, I know that you want to. |
5) Add some eye makeup, some lipgloss and a touch of blush and Voila:
The Result:
Glowing skin! Where have you been all my life??? Wow, I was really impressed of how subtle the shimmer is, and extremely happy that I didn't look like I belonged as a topless showgirl in Vegas. I think that the key is to just blend, blend, blend and if you think that you may have overdosed on the shimmer you can always use some powder to tone it down. I normally hate doing face shots for the blog but I was really happy with this look. This is perfect for those days where you want your skin to look a bit more awake, and really, there's nothing wrong with faking a good night's sleep. Now, faking orgasms, well, that's another story :)
So tell me, have you tried this shimmer/foundation trick yet? What other secrets can you share to keep your skin all glowy and healthy?
Thanks so much for reading, and have a fanastic Tuesday :)

I have actually never tried this before but the results are amazing! I wonder if I try this I could forego powder, that would streamline another step in my getting ready for work routine! Thank you for stopping by, commenting, and following! I can't wait to see your next post!
This looks great!Must give it a try!!

you skin is glowing! I have that tinted moisturizer and love it too!
yes we do think alike!! i bought the HM dress not too long ago bc it was on sale..cant say no to a good sale!!
i use a max factor foundation (i'm a maxfactor girl lol) it doesn't glow, but i think it's perfect on my skin. i've heard about shimmers and bronzers, however i've never tried anything of those yet. Love your photos!
re: no i haven't watch bachelor pad either, but i will watch it later on this week as well. let's hope michelle won it. i just really dislike kasey and his ugly girlfriend !!!
jos xx
I'm a huge fan of Laura Mercier make up line. I love their concealer and eyebrow set. I'll have to check out their tinted moisturizer as I'm always too lazy to put on foundation.
Gah you have amazing skin! I can't get away with just a tinted moisturizer as I have a lot of imperfections :( And I have to becareful with shimmer since I tend to always look shiney anyway LOL! Amazing post Sharon thanks for sharing your technique!
you have amazing skin even without the cream!! I don't usually use tinted moisturizers but hmmm maybe I should try
I usually use mineral powder foundation, so I haven't had the chance to try this combination out yet - but it looks amazing on your skin!
I really like Bare Mineral's Mineral Veil as a finishing powder - it adds a light sheen and makes your skin look flawless (even when its not)...it also looks good in photographs - I should start using it again (I usually skip it because you apply it after foundation - so its an extra step LOL!)
I don't glow. I need to glow. I love glowing.
I have bronzer, but it makes me look like Snooki.
I love Snooki.
However, I want to glow. And Snooki doesn't glow.
You teach me so much.

I have some similar products...but I hadn't tried mixing them together because I was unsure how I'd like the slight shimmer all over my face...I guess it never hurts to try though :)

I really like the result, Sharon. Never thought about mixing the two. Why haven't I thought about that?! It has the right amount of glow.
I love these products. They look great on you.
Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. I would love for you to stop back by Fash Boulevard again soon.

I end up absolutely looking like a bad Vegas showgirl anytime I go near anything shimmery or glittery, so I appreciate this step-by-step!
One of my favourite techniques for getting your glow on! But thankfully there are foundations and tinted moisturizers that give you that glow and shimmer. CoverFX SkinTint has a great one but if you need more coverage I would do your technique!
