Hello Friends:
I hope that you all had a really fun, exciting weekend! Our weekend was adventurous, but not nearly as busy as my weekend (here). So this is what I wore today:
This was supposed to be my 'going to a kid's birthday party' outfit but quickly morphed into a 'little one was sick and had a pukefest this morning so brought him to his Dr. who held a walk in clinic today at his office but we missed the birthday party and I had to take the subway to work and grab my computer because I will be working from home tomorrow' outfit. Pretty crazy, huh? But not as crazy as the title of this post.
What the hell is a soccer mom anyways?
Well, Wikipedia describes it as ' a middle class suburban woman who spends most of her time transporting her kids to soccer and other various activities'.
If we look at it from a fashion point of view, it's usually ' a mother who is constantly sporting a combination of sweats (or the mom jeans' you know the kind, highwaisted, baggy and about 3 sizes too big), running shoes and the unadventurous ponytail'. Not to critique- I mean, it's great that these women are catering to their kids, we all do it (myself included). But pul-lease do not lose your fashion sense in the process. Putting on a pair of flattering jeans and a nice top takes about the same time (if not less) then putting on those dreaded lululemon pants. Go for glam, not grungy.
So that said folks, you will not see any sweatpants here.
But maybe a sexy little shawl:
With some cute fringe:
And maybe a trick up my sleeve:
So just out of curiousity, what do you think of the term 'soccer' mom? I would love to know!
Thanks so much for reading. And have a great and fabulous Monday (ugh).

Hi Sharon! OK that is 1 haute soccer mom outfit ok??? Yeah I grew up in the suburbs and soccer mom's mostly wore sweats or 'mom jeans.' I don't think I've ever seen a soccer mom as well put together as you! Times have changed since but the majority are still dressed for comfort to the max, nothing wrong with that, but you can be comfortable in a lot of other clothes...that is just my opinion. So sorry to hear the little guy is sick, hope he is feeling better and there's just been stuff going around.
Love the grey top - looks so comfy!
I associate soccer mom with khakis and pastel polo shirts, short hair (that's easy to take care of) - not slobby women, but women who kind of give up their feminity and previous identity to become wholesome kid-focused people - not "wasting" time on themselves and spending all their time on their kids...
I'd rather aim to be a glam-mama, like Elle McPherson LOL! It's better to aim high, right?
Great post, you are making me laugh again! When I think of 'soccer mom', I imagine someone with mom hair and mom jeans, both of which are my nightmare. You are way too stylish and would never be mistaken for a soccer mom. My kids are not yet old enough for the soccer/piano/10 million other extracurricular activities, but when they are, I am determined never to be the soccer mom cliché, no matter how much effort it takes!!
Yaaaayyyyy, jeggings!!! I happen to adore jeggings. They are so body-con and seem to fit me better than actual jeans -- most of the time. They are not as long as jeans, and I'm a frickin' midget with baby legs, so they work for me. Plus, they are so easy to tuck into boots. So I love that even more.
P.S. Detroit and St. Louis are always in a constant battle for the #1 Most Dangerous City spot. We take turns winning. :)

p.s. Hope your son feels better soon! A puke fest is no fun - I had that on Friday afternoon with my little girl! In the car, no less!
You look lovely, jeggings are sexy, and a soccer mom? Dont quite know how describe a soccer mom, but you fit right in to the roll. :)
Thanks for your lovely comment on my last post, I am sure you will still turn heads when you are sixty, you have what it takes.
Have a stunning week.
Colin.
Great look! The shawl looks so chic. You are def one of the hotter moms out there! :D
Love that shawl on you! When I think of soccer mom I usually just think of the mom with a bunch of boys driving them to soccer in an SUV - nothing bad about style though...I know others have different thoughts!
LOL. No, you are definitely not a soccer mom. Well, not a typical one at least. Fabulous poncho btw.
Hi Sharon, you look beautiful with this look, you're not deffo a soccer mom, you're a glamorous mom and I prefer that !

If you have Twitter come and say hi !
haha, WORD! no sweats!! not sure how "soccer" mom got its bad rep...cause i somehow don't mind being the volleyball mom, or swim team mom, lol! but i totally agree that it doesn't take time to look the least bit presentable...just effort! cute, cute pics!!
[oomph.]
ok you are like the coolest soccer mom ever! i think i lucked out because my mom never really embarrassed me fashion-wise...in other ways, yes HAHA your kids are lucky too :D
i hope your little one gets well soon!!
Oh no! Hope your son feels better. Soccer mom - well I definitely don't peg you as a traditional soccer mom and love what you said about sweats and you never going out in them. I wish everyone knew that sweats were not public attire!
Great shawl!!
You look awesome! Great outfit.
My mom was the previous generation's version of soccer mom - her life revolved around the kids and her husband (still does with the addition of the techie and v), however, she was always dressed beautifully. We had mom's coming to the bus stop in their nightwear, while my brother and I were always proud of her being so well put together.
She is my inspiration and I vow never ti become a sloppy mom.
Love that outfit, I can see myself wearing that to the beach or park in winter :-)
Sorry, lots of typos in my comment :-)
Sharon: you took a soccer mom term to a new level lady! You are one stylish and super fun soccer mom the kids and adults want to be around. That top is so so cool and chic.
I would imagine soccer moms driving a big SUV wearing t shirt, jeans and a pair of good old tennis shoes Stereotype, I know.
GOTTA LOVE THAT KNITTED PONCHOOO !!!

I just heart you!!! You are having way too much fun! Your the hottest non soccer mom!
I don't know anything about soccer moms but I know plenty of ballet moms :P Thankfully, our medieval town is small and we can get everywhere by foot. It's still stressful trying to get from A to B on time.
HAHAHAHA Sharon! You are too funny girl! I'm still laughing at your description. Well i LOVE your sweater girl. It's awesome! You looked great! Happy Monday! :D

You actually could balance the ball on your head?! Whoa!
I like the shawl look ;p
clearly wikipedia does not follow fashion blogs bc i think soccer moms are so hip now! i love your whistle and soccer ball props! xx
Totally know the feeling of how a sick child can change all the plans. Loving this cape. So casual and trendy. I totally agree then again I don't think you will find a mom who does not agree in the fashion blog world since they are here because they have not lost their fashion sense. Now lets just hope we inspire the other mommies.

Hahaha Sharon you always make me smile!! Good for you for not giving up your sense of style! I never really understood the concept of "letting yourself go" after kids. I can understand people can get into a rut and don't have time to think about fashion but most times it's just about putting clothes on that actually fit and MAYBE dressing it up a bit like with the shawl you have on or with a few accessories. You are awesome!
Thought I would leave you a note here :) Thanks so much for the order! So looking forward to seeing you wear it and hope you love it.
xoxo

i love your long hair!!!!!! and i totally love your comfortable outfit!
i never heard of the term soccer mom. Here we don't even use the word soccer. Football is far much common, but then, it hasn't nothing to do with moms!
