OOTD: A Bolt of Color

Hello Friends,

I wore this outfit to work yesterday, and one of the guys in finance came up to me and said: 'Wow, you're such a bolt of color'. Hell yes! For someone who practically lives in neutrals, I was elated to hear this!

Here I am wearing those bright blue pants again (last shown here). When I was debating whether or not to buy them, the salesperson simply said to me: "just wear them like you would regular jeans". And boy was she right. For those of you who are afraid of trying out colored pants you would be surprised at how extremely versatile they are. To the point where I've had to stop from wearing them at least three times a week. They are THAT.AWESOME.

To dress up these babies I paired them with my el-cheapo H&M flutter top and a splash of bling with a statement necklace that I bought at Banana Republic for 70% off.  Seriously, this surge of color literally has me jumping for joy:

Oh yes, it is that happy day, isn't it???

OOTD: Back to School in J Brand Royal Blue

Hello Friends,

This week was back to school and let me tell you that I cannot believe that I am the mother of a 1st grade child. On Tuesday I was among the flurry of anxious parents waiting to make sure that their kids made it to the right classroom, and as my child proudly walked into his big boy school mama cried like a bitch.

And, this is what I wore:

These pants were a bit of a risk for me, but I must admit that they are such an awesome jolt of color that I couldn't resist them. They were offered to me at a HUGE discount (thanks to my loyalty points at Mendecino, a retailer here in Canada) so I jumped at the chance to take them home! This color is extremely versatile, I can picture wearing them with white, grey, and even gold and can easily be dressed up or down. Because I was dropping my kid off at school I didn't want to make too much of a bold statement so I kept the look simple with a black top, some cute shoes and a rockin' bag:

And just to mix it up a bit, I thought that this bag would be a great option. It does match my pants, and I'd be a hit with the kids too!):

On second thought, um, maybe not.

Another thing that I should mention about these pants are that they are super duper comfortable. They are slightly high waisted (sits about 1/2 an inch from my belly button) therefore does not aggravate my muffin top and are stretchy enough so that I can easily bend down to clean little one's pee off of the floor- true story! Honestly I am a huge fan of J brand jeans in general, I bought my first pair 6 years ago and they are still a crucial part of my wardrobe. I've since added another 7 pairs (mix of cargos, cigarette pants and bell bottoms) and have not looked back.

Have you tried J Brand jeans? What are your thoughts? What other jean brands do you wear or recommend?

OOTD- Leather and Suede

Hello Friends:

Again the sun is shining today and it's amazing how some vitamin D can put me in a super duper mood!  As it is still a bit cool outside I still had to keep warm but wanted to shed the nasty layers that winter has left behind, hence my ensemble to the office below:

Shoes: Town shoes
Necklace: Tiffany's
Sunglasses: Gucci

I cannot tell you how much I love this leather Mackage jacket that I originally talked about here. It's so light and the leather is so buttery soft that you just want to rub your skin all over it. I can definitely see myself wearing it on those cool spring/summer nights and it's just one of investment pieces that I'll have for years and years to come. It also came in black but I decided to go with the gunmetal gray color because any more black in my closet I would look like I worked in morgue.

And because spring is here, I seriously couldn't wait to slip into my favorite pair of nude, suede sandals:

I love the stud detailing on this shoe- so rebellious!!!

OOTD- Cougars and Cargos

Hello Friends,

I hope that the sun is shining where you are, because the sun was shining where I was today and that makes me a damn happy camper. So this is what I wore to the office today:

Top: H&M

Tank: T by Alexander Wang

Shoes: Cole Hann

Necklace: Mirella (gifted from Toronto Fashion week)





My 'Thank God it's almost Friday' Face!


I like to call this look casual wear with a kick. The H&M flutter shirt (a real bargain at $9.95) is a great mix of comfort and style. I love how loose and drapey the sleeves are, however, did have to layer the tank underneath or else I would have looked like a real hoochy mama. My J brand cargos are one of the most comfortable pants that I own, and like to wear on days where I'm too lazy to get dressed up. And just to give the outfit a bit of a pop I decided to add my beloved leopard print shoes. My necklace was actually a gift I received when I was at Toronto Fashion Week (that I talked about here) and it's so simple yet stunning:

I just love how just a few accessories can make your outfit go from blah to 'YeeHAWW!!!'. Don't you agree?

Anyways, I wish you guys a very very Happy Friday!!!!!! I'll be off celebrating my son's 6th birthday. Can you believe it? No longer my baby (sniff, sniff).
