Hello Friends,
This week was back to school and let me tell you that I cannot believe that I am the mother of a 1st grade child. On Tuesday I was among the flurry of anxious parents waiting to make sure that their kids made it to the right classroom, and as my child proudly walked into his big boy school mama cried like a bitch.
And, this is what I wore:
These pants were a bit of a risk for me, but I must admit that they are such an awesome jolt of color that I couldn't resist them. They were offered to me at a HUGE discount (thanks to my loyalty points at Mendecino, a retailer here in Canada) so I jumped at the chance to take them home! This color is extremely versatile, I can picture wearing them with white, grey, and even gold and can easily be dressed up or down. Because I was dropping my kid off at school I didn't want to make too much of a bold statement so I kept the look simple with a black top, some cute shoes and a rockin' bag:
And just to mix it up a bit, I thought that this bag would be a great option. It does match my pants, and I'd be a hit with the kids too!):
On second thought, um, maybe not.
Another thing that I should mention about these pants are that they are super duper comfortable. They are slightly high waisted (sits about 1/2 an inch from my belly button) therefore does not aggravate my muffin top and are stretchy enough so that I can easily bend down to clean little one's pee off of the floor- true story! Honestly I am a huge fan of J brand jeans in general, I bought my first pair 6 years ago and they are still a crucial part of my wardrobe. I've since added another 7 pairs (mix of cargos, cigarette pants and bell bottoms) and have not looked back.
Have you tried J Brand jeans? What are your thoughts? What other jean brands do you wear or recommend?
And as I can't resist, I leave you now with a pic of my son, on his first day of Grade one:
Thanks so much for reading, and THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Such a lovely outfit - you are such a stylin' Mommy! The moms in my kids' school look amazing in the morning - they make me feel like I need to step up my game LOL!
I've never tried J brand - but they're always featured in People's StyleWatch...I don't think I've been to a Mendecino - but it sounds like a great place to shop - off to google if there's one near me :-)
Awwww! You got a little first grader on your hands. Good for you! Love those pants! So bright and cheerful.
The bright blue looks amazing! Great outfit! I have a pair of J. Brand Gigi cropped white jeans for summer, but that's it - I normally buy Citizen of Humanity jeans.
Your little boy is sooo cute! Hope the 'back-to-school' week went well. Have a great weekend!

You should have a lil girl now..you would dress her up all so cute!:)
Sharon: I am sure I would cry like you. I would probably be anxious ALL DAY LONG! It must be a big relief for you since your little guy had a smile on his precious face instead of an unhappy face ;)
You pulled of those pants beautifully. I have been loving that electric blue color lately. Like you said, it will be very versatile and go from Spring to Fall.
Sharon, you won my giveaway not sure if you saw. Somehow I sent you an email but my Google account drive me nuts, people said they have never received my email so I though I left a message here. I will make you a new set of necklace and a matching bracelet instead of having you choose from my giveaway post. Since those are my experimental pieces, I feel they are not too good of quality and design. Please let me know the desired lenght of a necklace and a bracelet. My email is narakista at gmail dot com.
I'm so glad my daughter is still a few years away from school. I don't know what I'd do!
I LOVE those bright blue pants on you...they look amazing!

I love the pop of blue! It looks so chic!
Cute DS! I also have a DS that just started preschool. :)
I have to say..I have HEARD wonderful things but have YET to try JBrand...I don't really have a reason other than I have my fav boutiques and none of them carry JBrand so I haven't tried them on before. Maybe I NEED to..they look so FAB on you..and when I hear they have a higher rise, I am all ears...when I wear lose boyfriend jeans I am all about the low easy waist but when I am wearing skinnies, I need a HIGH rise so I can bend over and also conceal the muffin top! lol.
Hope you ahve a great weekend!
Good luck with your lil man in FIRST GRADE...he is too cute!

She said it was hard for me to go off to kindergarten as I said mama bye bye and got on that bus! You rock those cobalt jeans like no other and I recently discovered jbrand jeans as well, I got a pair of cargo skinnies in black! Love your chanel bag in the prior posts, you are 1 stylish mom!

Bright blue jeans???? J'adore!!! I might need to branch out and try some colors this fall. My pants wardrobe is so boring -- black, blue, grey. Blahhhhhhh. I need a change-up. You will be my inspiration.

I love the pants on them! You rock them - and I laughed when you talked about "crying like a bitch" - so funny and sweet :) I hope he had a good day at school!
I love how you did colour-blocking in black and blue. (Is there even such a thing as colour-blocking in blac?) I love how the blue actually stands out in understated class. Yes you're right, you haven't made a bold statement on the first day of school but yet you exude simple elegance. You look the happy and proud mama and your boy looks so thrilled to go to school. Who takes your photos for you?
And I just followed your blog. I love to read mommies' blogs. (Must prepare for my next transition...lol) I came across and left a comment before but I didn't realise I hadn't followed at that time.
you must be the most fashionable mom at school with those blue j brands!!! i love j brands, their my #1 fave denim brand. i must own close to 30 pairs (kinda scary...). they truly fit me like a glove. i'm also a fan of current/elliot and some 7s.
& in response to your comment, chambrays are SO easy to wear. i practically live in them. i think they go with virtually everything! try 'em and let me know what you think. ;) xx
