Last week was not the rosiest of weeks. In between dealing with grade school bullies, finding out that my grandmother was in the hospital and hearing the tragic news of one of my besties I kind of hit a low point. To put it midly I was BURNT.OUT. I needed a day off, to recharge and just take my mind off of 'everyday' life for a change. So on Friday I decided that I would
I decided to start my glorious day off with a morning at the Nova Spa, right in the center of Yorkville. I was lucky to get a last minute appointment for a massage and wasn't sure what to expect as it was my first time there. I have to give kudos to this spa, my experience there was truly awesome (and I am very picky when it comes to spas). From the moment I entered this place I felt the knots in my shoulders starting to disappear. The spa had great facilities like colorwet sauna (heaven!) a relaxation room with current magazines (and not from 2005 like i've seen at other places) and my massage therapist was absolutely amazing. She did not have wimpy hands, and I left the massage feeling like mush:
After my short little nap, my growling tummy reminded me that it was lunchtime, so I got ready in a zombie-like state and proceeded to the Windsor Arms Hotel to meet a dear friend of mine for High Tea.
Now I already discussed my experience having high tea here, however, I just wanted to show how gorgeous this hotel is:
And of course what 'ME' day wouldn't be complete without a little bit of window shopping on Bloor Street (otherwise known as the mink mile)? And you know what is even more fun? Trying on uber-expensive things that I could never afford, just for the hell of it!.
First stop, Chanel, to try on this (f*ck) $4750 tweed jacket:
Then, last stop was the infamous Hermes (which I had never been to, by the way). I avoided the purse section and made a beeline for the bracelets, essentially driving our poor sales person nuts sneaking pics with my iphone:
From left to right: Clic-Clac bracelet, Forgot the name of the middle one, a lizard Collier bracelet |
So what about you? When was the last time you took a 'me' day? And what would be your perfect day off?

Sharon: I hope your grandmother is getting better soon along with everything else that bring your down.
Heck! those little therapy sessions seem to lift you up instantly and I am beyond jealous. You looked so relaxed..haha. Did that Chanel jacket make you feel a bit better..hehe? How about those little bling bling from Hermes? I bet you forgot about everything else for a moment. I, too, agree we all need our "me" time at some point to recharge our energy/battery. Life gets so hectic that we tend to go non-stop and forget we are just humans, not robots. I really need to find my me day soon. Thank you for a reminder :D
what a fab "Me" day!! you & every other mom deserve it!! and i never have the balls to try on any of the designer stuff. i just "pet" it HAHA & keep on walkin -_- that chanel jacket is gorgeous! and the Hermes bracelets are freaking to die for. on my long long list of wants hahhaa
What a great way to spend "ME" day. You totally deserve it.
Dear Sharon,
Following lovely Nelah commendations, I decided to visit your blog page. I pretty much hahahahaha in stitches all the way. I like your humour wit, it's very entertaining. Your kids must be having a pretty damn good childhood with a hilarious and happy mom. Even your expression with the description of the Chanel jacket was very funny cute.
Browsing through your pictures, it is very refreshing to see how you combined fashion with a sprinkle of humour. Just as exactly as how Nelah described you, you're incredibly hilarious (in a nice and sincere way). I will certainly be returning to read more.
p/s: for the record, the middle one is called Baby Pavane...
i think mommies do need a lil me time once in awhile, that spa is gorgeous! For me if hubby clean the house, dishes are done..and I get to sit back and watch my Korean TV series, I'll be very happy..well spas and shopping are nice too =)
I hope your grandma get better! have a lovely week sharon!
Sharon!!! I was just thinking about you the other day, when I checked back and I didn't see a post, I figured you were busy with ill kids and life in general! That is a fabulous day doll, spa, high tea, hermes, and chanel...ummmm DID you get ANYTHING??? It's ok the eyecandy was just enough sensory overload I bet! Hope your grandma gets better and glad to see you again!
Sharon keep us posted regarding your grandmother. Sending healing wishes her way. :( regarding your bestie. And I HATE bullies! You would think ALL of the discussion, news events, and awareness that they would just STOP. I was mildly bullied as a child (elementary school) and it is not fun. Thank GOD I had a strong support system. Ok serious stuff aside, you mentioned TWO of my favorite things...SPAhhhh and Tea!!! Both of those places look so fab girl. We ALL need that from time to time. How relaxing!!! I went to an Alice in Wonderland tea about 2 months ago. I'm loving the themed teas at present. haha That Spa seems so luxurious. Do you subscribe to SPA magazine? They showcase spas from around the world. I have a collection of mags from them. SWOON over that Chanel jacket!!!So gorgeous! Well glad you're back. I usually don't post on the weekends or log on. I give myself a break. ((HUG MY FRIEND)) and talk to you soon!

Hi Sharon,
I agree with your take on me time a lot. You have to relax and let loose a little in order to have more zest and motivation to go further. I've experienced a few instances like this too.
I like how to went into a little of retail therapy w/o actually purchasing anything. There are instances when I do window shopping like this too. Trying on some designer stuff knowing that I would never spend the money on them yet feeling great having tried them on. Haha...
I'm not sure if you do check back on replied on my blog so here goes:
Besides what I want to say to you above, I'm glad to see you here after reading your posts for quite some time. I didn't realise that my profile was switched to private till one of the blogger told me on her page that she could not access my profile to get to my blog to reply me. I'm not sure what happened at blogger but my profile is accessible now. Thanx for following me too!
Absolutely agree with the me time.
I do that too to keep my sanity :)
Oh I hope your grandmother is feeling better, the bully situation is resolved and your friend is hopefully in better spirits too?
That's awesome to take a "me" day. I don't recall when I last took a "me" day. I usually try to not work on my birthday but the past few years I had other things happening around that time so I couldn't take the day off and this past year it landed on Easter weekend :P
I'm glad you're feeling energized, that spa soudns amazing! And I've never been for high tea! How did you get those awesome shots of you from above? I assume you had help LOL!
My husband and I are REALLY great about carving out (with my parents as the sitter) US time to keep the romance alive etc. BUT I can't even remember the last time I had a ME day....The shots are amazing..I am jealous and already looking at my calendar to start planning...lol.
Hope you are feeling better!!!

Glad you had a great "me" day, I take those all the time! tee hee!
Hope everything else is ok...
I am so glad that you took a mental health day. It sounds like you needed it. It's easy to stress out, sometimes. Some weeks just don't want to cooperate with us! I'm glad that you are feeling better now, though. Shopping at Chanel and Hermes were sure to help you along. :)

Every girl needs at least one day off in a month. Spa, a girlie lunch and window shopping sound perfect :-)
How did I miss this post??? I am sorry to hear you had a rough time, and I hope everything is well with your grandmother. But it sounds like you had a great 'me' day - you totally deserve it! I have never set foot in the Chanel store, but I have peeked inside the boutique inside Holt Renfrew, and checked out the tweed jackets (sigh!!!). Those Hermès bracelets are to die for!
