THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE (KIND OF)

Hello Friends,

So from reading my silly blog, the following things about me are pretty obvious:

1) I have two adorable kids. (Oh, and a sexy husband)
2) I like to swear a lot (f*ck yah!)
3) I live and die for fashion kinda like nice things.

But here are some things that you don't know about me:

1) I am an only child. (Are there any other only children out there, any???)
2) I have a history of anxiety and depression.
3) I have this unexplainable urge to help people.

To expand on point #3- All my life, I've always felt this need to connect with people. In the past fews years, I've been doing a lot of soul searching, trying to find out what my purpose in life is. One thing that I've always wanted to do, was to help sick kids. For as long as I can remember, I always pictured myself at a children's hospital, making a child laugh, or doing something that will impact their life in a positive way. However, I never knew how to go about pursuing my dream of helping terminally ill kids.

UNTIL NOW.

So recently, I entered a philanthropy contest at my work. The details were simply to choose a charity and do a four minute presentation infront of our company (ie- 200 people). Then, after the presentations were done, the employees (through an anonymous ballot) would vote as to which charity would win the grand monetary prize. I jumped at the chance to enter this competition, and I called my favorite charity Make a Wish to see if they would like to send a speaker and a wish family to help me in my presentation. Just in case you're not familiar with Make a Wish, they are a global company grant wishes to children who are terminally ill (cancer, cystic fibrosis, etc). For more info, please visit here.

And guess what?

I WON THE COMPETITION.

And guess what the prize was????????

$20,000.00 (that's right- twenty thousand f****'n dollars!).

I have no words to describe the excitement and high that I am feeling right now. I know that this sounds strange, but I feel like pieces of my life are coming together again. Although I am not the most religious person in the world, I believe that everyone has a purpose in this life, and we have to look for the signs. I never thought that I would get the opportunity to help these kids, and with these funds I'm sure that many wishes are going to be granted and that means lots of smiles on kids faces.

Okay, I'm so sorry for getting so sappy. I'll stop now.

And, for the record, I should clarify that this is the fourth happiest day of my life (after the day I got married, and of course, the days that each of my kids were born).
